Sutton MA Real Estate

SUTTON - Like a lot of towns in the area, Sutton was home to textile production for many years. There were three major mills at the four corners of the village of Manchaug, located in Sutton. The remaining mill building was constructed back in 1826 for the production of cotton textile. The familiar trade name "Fruit of the Loom" originated here.
Today that old granite mill building is known as the Manchaug Mills center. It has been updated and expanded to offer space for small businesses.
Sutton is also home to the Pleasant Valley Country Club which hosted PGA and LPGA tournaments for a period of 38 years until 1998. The club is open only to private membership and maintains the beauty and challenge for which it has been respected over many years.
The town grew up as a farming and textile community, but with the textile industry having moved south and farming an increasingly rare endeavor, Sutton is now a peaceful community with a strong rural flavor. It is proximate to Route 146 which provides a quick connection north to the Mass Pike and south to Providence for commuters.
